Lead the team that makes camp happen

We’re hiring two Directors to serve alongside our Executive Director in the Camp Director role. Directors are volunteer leaders who help plan camp and guide our staff team through training and camp week.

Camp Staff: Counselors & Advisors

Counselors and Advisors work directly with delegates during camp week. Both roles use the same application, which opens in November. Counselor is our most competitive role. Camp staff applications are due February 15, 2027.

Volunteer FAQ

Do I need to have attended Anytown?

Only if you’re within delegate age (14–19). Counselors in that age range need to attend Anytown as a delegate first. If you’re older, no prior Anytown experience is required.

Is this a paid position?

Directors receive a small $1,500 stipend as a thank-you for their time. This is a volunteer leadership role. All other camp staff roles are volunteer.

What is the time commitment?

Plan on our spring staff trainings (one virtual and two in-person), training at camp on July 5, and camp week, July 6–10, 2027. The Director role runs February through July, with weekly meetings that pick up as camp gets closer. Some weeks are heavy, like hiring season and interviews. Others are more flexible and relaxed.

Will I be sleeping in a cabin?

Counselors sleep in the cabins with delegates. Advisors, Directors and Medical and Mental Health staff have their own cabin.

Can I bring my phone?

Yes, you can bring your phone, but it needs to stay put away anytime you’re around delegates.

Do I need a background check?

Yes. All staff 18 and older need a cleared background check. Directors need an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Is there an age requirement?

Advisors, Mental Health and Medical staff must be 21 or older. Counselors within delegate age (14–19) must have attended Anytown as a delegate.
