Dr. Emerald Huggins, DNP, PMHNP-BC (He/She/They)
Board Member
Dr. Emerald Huggins is trailblazing unicorn, a thriving desert transplant, a loving plant parent, a devoted dog dad, and an effervescent psychiatric nurse practitioner. Pink is his signature color, and he loves dessert and music made by sad girls with guitars.
Emerald is new to Phoenix, but he plans to make Phoenix his forever home. He is a native of Grady, Arkansas and has a bachelors degree in public relations and advertising from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. Emerald spent 13 years in Pittsburgh, PA where he earned a bachelors degree in nursing from Duquesne University and doctorate of nursing practice from Robert Morris University.
In 2022, Emerald and his two dogs, Gabriel and Ana, packed up and moved to Phoenix, where Emerald founded Awareness Oasis Psychiatry. A practice dedicated to providing quality psychiatric services for BIPOC, queer, and allies. In addition to managing his own practice, Emerald also works as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Resilient Health in central Phoenix.
Emerald was the camp nurse in 2023, and he loved camp so much that he joined the board.
In his spare time, Emerald loves working out, meditating, taking care of his many plants, spending time with his partner, watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, and making new friends.
