Launched in 1952, Anytown exhibits a long history of providing a highly engaging program supported by school districts, charter schools, and collaborating nonprofits. Our alumni include many community members that hold leadership positions throughout Arizona including the City of Phoenix Police Chief, judges, lawyers, teachers, and business leaders.
One component of the Anytown experience, includes large group workshops, where students engage in an in-depth examination of prejudice and discrimination, developing practical skills to identify and address these issues with their communities. High school delegates discuss topics such as gender, privilege, religion and more. The Anytown Spirit is also about “celebrating” one’s self, and we host a “Culture & Faith Night” where students make presentations about their culture and faith. They share clothing, objects, and customs to better educate other Anytown students and celebrate their identity.
Your gift to Friends of Anytown supports the high school student delegate experience, including Anytown Leadership Camp, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshops, and other experience-based learning and hands-on activities to confront bias, examine prejudice, and engage youth in peer-to-peer guided conversations.
